During undergrad, he was introduced to the physical therapy profession during a conference he had attended where a PT was performing boxing exercises with a patient with Parkinson's Disease. As a martial artist and kickboxer for 14 years, this career was the convergence of his two passions of martial arts and healthcare. Since then, he has gotten more exposure to the physical therapy profession by working as a volunteer and aide until attending the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, where he graduated in 2021. Working at STARS with the population with Parkinson's and with Rock Steady Boxing, he has come full circle in his career.

Gilbert is currently certified in LSVT BIG and PWR!Moves to help people with Parkinson's. Additionally, he is certified with Graston Technique to treat people with various orthopaedic conditions.

In addition to martial arts and physical therapy, Gilbert also enjoys riding his motorcycle and going on cross country camping trips on the bike.
